Asia Cruises

Asia cruises can offer an experience that you will remember for a lifetime. These cruises typically last anywhere from 11 to 25 days, so they aren’t a quick weekend vacation. Shorter cruises can be taken if you are already in the area though. You can find 3 day cruises originating out of Beijing and some other more populated areas. An Asia cruise can cover a vast area, and there are tons of options to choose from. If you aren’t familiar with the area, it can be difficult to decide what kind of itinerary to book. Here are just a few options for ports to check out if you plan on cruising Asia.
Kupang, Indonesia
Located in the southern region, Kupang offers a lot of hands on activity. The island is known for it’s beautiful beaches and clear waters. The reef offers a perfect setting for diving. You can explore the Kristal Caves- an underground maze made of ancient reefs, tunnels, and chambers. This will open to the door to marine life you may have never seen before. You can also visit the museums which feature crafts and artifacts from the region. Not all cruises to Asia will stop near here, but it’s worth finding one that does if you enjoy diving.
Sangalaki Island, Indonesia
Another spot in Indonesia, Sangalaki Island is a hidden gem. Its remoteness makes it popular for those who want a quiet place to rest. You can walk along the small beaches and see manta rays and jellyfish. During certain times of the year baby turtles crawl from the sand back in to the water. The island is small, taking less than half an hour to walk. This makes it difficult for large Asia cruise ships, but smaller ones can easily stop nearby.
Pulau Mataking, Malaysia
This spot is great for those who want to dive, and those who just want to relax on a pristine beach. The famous underwater post office can be found here. You can also find a spa, wildlife, and shopping. The shops are diverse, offering hand crafted items, including clothing and trinkets. Asia cruises that stop here usually only do so for a few hours.
Benoa, Bali
Benoa is a laid back area that has recently become a popular port for many Asia cruises. If you get the chance to stay here for a while you can enjoy windsurfing, sailing, and fishing. There are several seafood restaurants that allow you to pick out your fish as it’s brought in. The fresh food will be unlike any other you’ve had before, and the experience will stay with you. This can be a special treat for summer cruises.
Inchon, South Korea
Located close to Seoul, Inchon offers a bubbling city rich with tourist activities. You can take a ferry to the outlying islands, or just stay along the boardwalk and enjoy the attractions. You will find every amenity you are accustomed to already with a cultural flair.
Nagoya, Japan
Japans 4th largest city, Nagoya is a sprawling town with lots to see. You can spend hours at the aquarium just taking in the sights and sounds. There are several museums located here as well. For a more old school Asian activity, take a tour of the Inuyama Castle- Japans oldest castle. Most Asia cruises that stop here will offer offshore cruise tours to many of these locations.
Phuket, Thailand
Phuket is often referred to as ‘the Pearl of the South’. It’s Thailand’s largest island. The terrain is varied, so it will appeal to anyone. You can find magnificent rocky beaches, lush tropical areas, and forested hills. Many cruise lines will port here for a day or more just because of everything there is to see. You can rent motorcycles to tour the area, or take a tour bus cruise throughout the region. While exploring, don’t forget to try some fresh pineapple or watch the action at the alligator farms that are everywhere. Remember to bring your camera. You can get great memories from your Asia cruises in Phuket.
Beijing, China
There are two different places to port outside of Beijing, and all Asian cruise lines stop at one of these ports. In most cases the ships are docked for 2 to 3 days here. There is much to see and do in Beijing. You can visit the Great Wall, Temple of Heaven, Echo Wall, among many other attractions. Enjoy authentic foods, great shopping, and fun performing arts while you are here. All cruise lines that port here will offer some type of off shore tour as well.
There are many more places to consider. When you start looking at Asia cruises pay attention to the areas they go and the attractions offered.
