Finding cheap Disney cruises is much easier than you may think. However, it’s important to understand exactly what a cruise line will charge for. A travel site may advertise a cheap cruise for under $500 per person, but when you start to look at all the extra fees associated, that $500 can easily balloon in to twice that. To avoid that and make sure you are actually getting a good deal on cheap Disney cruises, here are some things you should know.

Port Side Adventures
The Disney cruise experience doesn’t end when the cruise ship docks. At each port you will have time to explore different areas, getting a taste of the local cuisine, shopping, and more. If you do this on your own each time you can get confused, and worse, lost. Disney cruises will actually employ people to help you plan activities and go sightseeing when you are off the ship. While the planning may not cost anything, if you choose to take guided tours you have to book and pay for these separately. These also book quickly, so it’s a good idea to take care of this before you board the ship. The Disney tours aren’t terribly expensive, but if you consider that on an 8 day cruise you may stop at 5 or 6 different locations, the tours in each place will all have a different cost. This can increase the cost of your cheap Disney cruises by quite a bit.
Cheap Disney Cruises and Meals
Another thing to keep in mind is the additional expenses you can incur while on the ship. Meals are included in most Disney cruise packages. However, the included meals may only include a selective menu. You may also have to pay for drinks out of pocket, even non-alcoholic drinks. If you consider it may cost $3 for a single soft drink, and multiply that by the number of people in your family per meal, you can end up paying a couple hundred dollars just in drink charges. If you decide to deviate from the menu you’ll pay more as well. You can purchase a cruise package that will give you upgrades or drinks for a flat fee. It’s better to either find a more expensive package that includes the extras, or pay for the meal or drink package separately. This way you can truly enjoy the cheap Disney cruises.
Port Fees and Taxes
Another thing to watch out for is the port fees and taxes. These are never included in the cruise prices. Longer trips that stop at more ports will require more money for this. The fees also vary from place to place, so it’s hard to nail down a good estimate of what to expect. If you talk to your booking agent they can give you a better idea of what the fees currently are. This way your cheap Disney cruises don’t end up costing too much more than you’re expecting.
