What is A Stateroom

A stateroom is simply the term used for your private room onboard. The prices for the cruises are based solely on the type of room you choose. If you are traveling alone, you should be aware that you may have to pay additional for a private stateroom. Most cruise lines require double occupancy. So if you don’t have a travel companion you can choose to allow the cruise line to find someone to share a room with, or you can pay for both tickets.

Interior Staterooms on Royal Caribbean Cruises

In most cases the interior staterooms are the cheapest and offer the fewest amenities. Royal Caribbean cruises are different. While the interior rooms aren’t as spacious, they still offer amenities that everyone will love. There are several types of interior rooms available. A standard interior stateroom will offer 2 twin beds and a private bath. This is good for couples who plan on spending more time on the deck than in their rooms. Larger interior rooms will offer a vanity as well as the private bath. The twin beds can usually be converted in to a Queen size as well.  A Promenade stateroom aboard the Royal Caribbean cruise will also the same sleeping arrangements, but also have the bonus of a bowed window that overlooks the promenade. Family rooms are available at the interior level as well, and these offer accommodations for up to 6 people in each room.

Outside Staterooms

The outside staterooms are simply rooms that face the exterior portion of the ship. This means you will have windows that overlook the water. You’ll have to choose the view you want. An Oceanside room will be the most desirable, but also higher on the price list. Cheap Royal Caribbean cruise deals can be found if you are willing to forego the ocean view for a view of the boardwalk instead.

Balcony Staterooms

Balcony staterooms tend to be the most popular choices. These give you more room inside, and have a door that opens on to a balcony that overlooks either the water or the boardwalk area. The cheapest rooms in this category will not have private balconies. However, it’s still a good way to get a larger room with your own access to the deck at an affordable price. You can upgrade these rooms with Royal Caribbean cruises to have larger rooms with private balconies. These will give you a sitting area where you can enjoy your morning coffee and watch the water, or people watch. People watching is a popular past time for many people on a vacation cruise.

Suites

A suite on a Royal Caribbean ship can be a great treat. The junior suites will offer a comfortable living area with a private balcony. From here you can upgrade to two room suites. These are great for families who don’t want to be stuck in the same room for the entire cruise. These will generally have two bedrooms and a shared living room area. Larger suites with two levels, full bars, entertainment packages, and even skylights are available as well. The larger suites can be the size of a standard apartment. Even though Royal Caribbean cruises are affordable, you should expect to pay a premium price for these upgraded rooms.
